Out of 100 GW solar capacity target, 40 GW is likely to be achieved by the installation of rooftop solar projects. India needs faster implementation of roof-top solar projects to meet the 175 gigawatts of renewable energy target by 2022, a report has said.
India is considering a new tender to develop solar power equipment manufacturing that doesn’t include a requirement to also generate electricity, a move aimed at sparking investor interest, according to people with knowledge of the plan.
Earlier this month, the deadline for bid submission under this tender was extended from April 4 to April 22. State-run Solar Energy Corporation of India Monday extended the bids submission deadline for the third time for manufacturing-linked 3GW solar power tender till May 14.
