Gold ETF & GS Nifty BeES Review - July 2013

The Month gone by:-

Corpus: The corpus of the Gold ETF category fell by 9% during the month of June 2013 to Rs9,612 crore (Rs10,580 crore in May 2013) while the corpus of GS Nifty BeES rose by 10% to Rs494 crore during the month despite the fall in equity markets.


Net flow: The overall ETF category witnessed net outflows of Rs207 crore over the course of the month. The Gold ETF category saw net outflows of Rs206 crore, while Other ETF category saw net outflows of Rs1 crore.


Traded Volume: The Gold ETF category witnessed total traded volumes of Rs444 crore while GS Nifty BeES witnessed volumes of Rs47 crore during the month.


Tracking Error: In Other ETFs (excluding international & Liquid ETFs), ‘Tracking Error’ ranged from 0.02% to 1.14% (based on daily returns for the last 1 year period). Tracking Error for GS Nifty BeES was at 0.08% while the Tracking Error of Gold ETF category was at 0.60%.


Prices of Gold: Prices of gold in USD term fell by 14.5% while in Rs term it fell by 8.02%.


Equity Markets: Indian indices ended negatively in June 2013. BSE Sensex fell by 1.8%, while the Nifty lost by 2.4%.
